Our 4 Week Wine Appreciation Course runs over 4 consecutive Thursdays and is the perfect option for anyone with an interest in wine and who wants to improve their knowledge and confidence.
The course is usually presented by Rob Geddes MW. Rob was the 3rd Australian to achieve the Master of Wine title and has been a leading educator, presenter and author for the past 30 years.
However, due to Rob's current China commitments we have a series of guest presenters in his place, led by Charles "Chilly" Hargrave, former chief sparkling winemaker from TWE.
The course content over the 4 weeks is as follows:
Week 1 - Introduction (8+ wines)
Week 2 - White Wines (10+ wines)
Week 3 - Red Wines (10+ wines)
Week 4 - Champagne/Sparkling and Fortified Wines (10+ wines)
Over 40 wines are tasted throughout the course with topics covered including
- Varietal and Regional Characteristics
- Food and Wine Matching
- Identifying aromas and flavours
- How to buy and store or order and drink wine
- Effect of glassware
The aim of the course is to give participants the knowledge to confidently predict the taste of a bottle of wine whilst having the knowledge to know what they like and why they like it.
